About X Collectibles
Ed buys comics books in Washington DC, Baltimore, MD and York, PA areas. However, sometimes he also does comic book appraisals over video calls and buys collections all over the US.
Ed’s personal collection contains over 3000 comic books, 50 of which are graded. He mostly focuses on vintage Spider Man and first appearances from the 1940’s. His most prized comics include:
- Walt Disney Comics & Stories 1: The most popular comic title throughout the 1940’s and 1960’s with upwards of 3 million copies distributed each month. This one in nice condition is worth about $10,000
- Archie Comics 1: This is a pure comic Americana. Plus, it’s one of the few comics that you can still buy at a grocery store today. Early issues from 1940’s are pretty scarce. This copy, even in rough shape, is worth over $10,000.
- Showcase 4: As superhero and other adult oriented comics hit a wall due to censorship and changing tastes, post World War II; DC comics re-imagined their superhero lineup starting with this book in 1956. Decent copies like this are worth nearly $20,000.
